I've been putting a LOT of miles on my paintbrush. We finally finished painting the office/study/schoolroom from top to bottom and including the bookshelves Kevin built. Then we moved the desk into the "closet". In the last few days, we designed, Kevin built, and I painted another shelf to go over my desk. Kevin's assembling the whole thing in his 100-degree garage workshop (I suppose the swamp cooler out there makes it a few degrees cooler, but not much) and we'll put it up hopefully tonight. Other than that, we're just trying to stay out of the heat. Here are some photos of recent days:

My dedicated Dad won an award for 50 years of outstanding service as an airplane mechanic recently. (It is the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award, named for the Wright Brothers' mechanic.) It was presented in a surprise ceremony and Kevin and the kids took the day off work and school to be there. Lots of his friends were there and it was a great honor for him personally and career-wise. Here he is receiving the award from an FAA official-
Finally, Joe has become a cup-stacking enthusiast. Never knew they taught such things in P.E., didja? He's quite a champ!

I just got caught up on your blog for the month of July. I'm sorry your birthday came and went without me acknowledging it. I hope you had a great day! I wish I could see all your hard work on painting and house decorating. I'm sure it looks great! I wish I had a school room to paint. I'm not sure yet how we will manage where the school work area should be. Just a few short weeks until we start back. I hope we can talk soon. I miss you my friend!
Wow, you're really going to town on that place, painting and putting up shelves. I'm sure it looks great. Want to come to DC and paint our new place? We leave NM next week, ack!
I can't wait to see the pictures of the finished product!!!!
