My favorite day.
Kirsten called to wish me a good one.
Other than that, still waiting for flowers or chocolate. Or a card. Singing telegram?
I have a sinus headache.
Edited later - HUGE, warm hug for Heather R.H. and Pamela N. who acknowledged the big day on my facebook wall.

ok, i was freaking out that it was your birthday or something so i stalked you on Facebook and saw that it was NOT so what's up with 11/11? Also, i need your advice on learning to ride a bike without training wheels for my 5 yr old....didn't you say something in a previous post about taking the pedals off?
Heather, you're so nice to me! Thanks for caring - but 11/11 has for years been my weirdo favorite day. And time. In college, I made such a bizarre big deal out of 11:11 and 11/11 that my friends (the ones who didn't decide that I was too wacked to associate with) started remembering and wishing me "happy 11/11". So that's the scoop.
As for the bike riding --- YES!!! It's such a good method. You remove the pedals and make sure the seat is low enough for the kid to reach the ground easily. Then they take off. It's kinda like a scooter you sit on (and having some slope somewhere helps, but isn't necessary). The idea is that they get all the balance and feel of riding, starting, stopping, even turning MUCH MUCH faster than with training wheels. Then you put the pedals back on and they take off once you've seen them "get" the balance thing. My brother (an avid biker) did it with all 4 of his girls and Kevin thought he was full of baloney. Then a guy at a bike shop told us the same thing and that Americans are misinformed about teaching kids to ride. In parts of Europe, they even sell a bike-kinda thing designed to teach them the same skills a pedal-less bike will. So there ya go! This has to be the longest comment ever! Sorry! If you have more questions, feel free to e-mail me. (Do you have my e-mail? -terillove@msn.com)
Let me know if you try it and how it goes!
Had I known this day was so special I would have shut up and let you have your moment! Thanks anyway for listen to me over and over again. You are a very cheap therapist!
Melissa! It's not THAT special! It's 99% a joke. Just a testimony to how a little oddity and a LOT of persistence get you noticed.
I LOVE talking AND listening in the morning. And believe me, when I need attention, I'll tell you! (Honestly, I think I do more talking than you do!)
Oh, my. What a horrible husband I am. I'll make it up to you on 11/11/11. Stay tuned.
